American Business Fellows Program
In March 2006, the State Department of United States allocated a contract to “Compañeros de las Américas” to implement the American Business Fellows Program, an exchange program that focuses on the private sector and deals with subjects related to the economic development, the expansion of businesses and creation of work.
The program offers a unique opportunity to professionals from the private sector who wish to extend their technical knowledge, to get a practical experience and to be in contact with experts from all over the world.
The program includes two important objectives:
- To promote a greater understanding of subjects related to the economic development and commercial expansion in Latin America and Caribbean.
- To establish and to fortify institutional communications in the private sectors of the United States and the neighbouring countries through the exchange of resources and technical knowledge.

Interview in the newspaper “La Nacion”
In January, the newspaper “La Nacion” published a special supplement about microcredit. The Network had the possibility of being interviewed to describe his work and the activities of its partner and to explain its position on the main challenges that the sector has to face nowadays.
The repercussions have been important and immediate. In the successive days, we have received many mails and calls to ask more information about our work.
